Economist & Strategist | Chief Economist, Ghana Exim Bank | PhD in Strategic Management
Dr. Kojo Aboagye-Debrah is a distinguished Ghanaian economist and strategist with over 28 years of leadership experience in the banking and financial services sector. He currently serves as the Chief Economist at the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank, a national appointment made by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Mahama, effective July 1, 2025.
In this capacity, he provides macroeconomic guidance and strategic insight to drive Ghana’s export and industrial transformation agenda. His career includes pivotal high-impact roles, such as Deputy Managing Director of OmniBSIC Bank Ghana, where he was central to the successful merger that formed OmniBSIC, and Special Advisor at Stanbic Bank Ghana, where he contributed to its evolution into a Tier 1 institution.
Academic & Professional Standing
Dr. Aboagye-Debrah holds a PhD in Strategic Management from the Business University of Costa Rica, and both an MPhil and a BA in Economics from the University of Ghana, where he was a Fellow of the UG/USAID MPhil Economics Program (1993–1995). He is a respected academician who has lectured at leading institutions in Ghana, mentoring the next generation of business leaders. He also serves on the boards of several financial institutions and is an active member of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI).
